Pleased to meet you,
My name is Hiroko Nagasaka, Director of the Toranomon Dental Practice .
My purpose in starting this column is to describe my feelings when I started my own dental clinic in Iwate at the age of 29, taking over the practice from my father and later, when having run my own practice in the regions, I started out again as an employed dentist in Tokyo at the age of 34.
I want to explain the reasons why I have now opened my own practice in Toranomon (Kamiyacho) and what it stands for, and also to describe from various perspectives and angles the experiences, both heartbreaking and wonderful, that I myself have had with dental treatment as a patient, as a dental practitioner, and as an individual person.
If these columns can be even slightly illuminating, and empowering, I will be very happy.
I would also like to introduce Kumiko. Kumiko is the screen with a hemp-leaf pattern that is the first thing to greet you as you enter my clinic. Hemp has from time immemorial been seen as a sacred plant with the power to ward off evil, and it is also seen as a well-omened pattern that functions as a prayer for healthy growth, so I had it installed here when I opened my practice.
“Responding to every individual request.” ※
In parallel with the finely-detailed technique and passion that has gone into this beautiful screen made by TANIHATA, we too aim to offer finely-detailed treatment with passion, using our solid base of knowledge to respond to every individual request and concern our patients have about their teeth and their oral health.
I hope you enjoy the beautiful hemp-leaf pattern on the “Kumiko” screen when you visit us.
I hope to see you soon.
